Vox Pops

My group and I decided to undertake this piece of primary research in order to get recent and up to date feedback from various aged people within West Hatch High School. We were told to interview 5 people, but instead we did 6 just incase. We interviewed each person asking them the same 5 questions:
  1. What's your favourite music genre?
  2. How do you like your artist to be represented? eg. powerful, ironic etc.
  3. Do you prefer fast or slow paced music video?
  4. Do you prefer more of a narrative or performance based music video?
  5. Have you heard of Nina Nesbitt?
We felt that recording it portrays evidence of us completing the task and the feedback we received, this clip is shown below;

In conclusion, I feel this primary research will really benefit my group and I when we come to creating our music video. With the feedback received we are able to have a clear understanding on what people in todays generation like to listen to, what genre they prefer, whether they like fast or slow paced videos and so on. We understood that many people hadn't have heard of Nina Nesbitt, this can be a positive as well as a negative. The positive being there isn't much to live up to, meaning people are less likely to compare us to the original artist Nina. The negative of using her song is that people don't know her and may not be be able to develop a relationship with her music as they may not have a clear understanding of her type of songs. The feedback on whether people prefer performance or narrative based music videos, gives us as a group an idea of the sort of percentage of each we will use, which will in fact be more narrative based. All of these elements will help us to develop a successful music video.

  1. This post demonstrates some understanding of why vox pops are important to consider, especially when researching into a target audience.

    Now aim to explain how your findings will assist you with planning your own music vidoe.
